Marquez could “see that the victory was there” for the taking

MotoGP star Marc Marquez was left to rue his Honda’s lack of acceleration compared to Jorge Lorenzo’s Yamaha at the finish of the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello – having led the race until its final yards. Marquez grabbed the lead on the final lap of the race, but was powerless to keep Lorenzo at bay on the long drag to the finish line despite leading out of the race’s final corner. “I knew it would be very close – we were struggling a lot all weekend at the last acceleration,” he said immediately after the race. “We must work on acceleration.” Later on, the two-time world champion said he believed victory was within reach, but only after Valentino Rossi’s Yamaha had...
