Jorge Lorenzo narrowly held off Marc Marquez to take back-to-back MotoGP wins at Mugello, as Valentino Rossi was denied a shot at a home victory when his Yamaha's engine expired in a cloud of smoke. Lorenzo beat Marquez in a drag race to the finish line by a scant 0.019s, getting the perfect drive out of the final corner after the pair swapped places four times on the final lap. It was the 43rd win of Lorenzo's MotoGP career, his third of the season and his fifth at Mugello in the premier class. The race had looked like shaping up between a straight fight between Yamaha teammates Lorenzo and Rossi in the early stages, the former launching from fifth on the grid into the lead at Turn 1....
