Yamaha: Mugello failures down to ECU
– Yamaha says that a rev limiter-related electronic problem caused Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi's failures at the Italian Grand Prix, during warm-up and the race respectively.Following the event, the two engines were returned to Yamaha's headquarters, with a detailed investigation of the units, telemetry data and related systems linking it to an ECU issue."The failures were caused by an electronic issue related to the rev limiter which ultimately resulted in valve and piston damage," explained Yamaha YZR-M1 Project Leader Kouji Tsuya."The cause for both Jorge's and Valentino's engine failures was the same."There was neither an engine component nor a...
