MotoGP extends Assen deal until 2026

TT Circuit Assen will remain part of the MotoGP calendar until at least 2026, it has been announced. The track, which hosts the Dutch TT event, is the longest-standing on the grand prix motorcycle racing schedule, having been part of the calendar since the creation of the category in 1949. The announcement of the extension was made by Dorna boss Carmelo Ezpeleta and Arjan Bos, the president of Assen's council. The original deal between MotoGP and Assen was due to expire in 2021, but with the circuit planning to bring an investment of 16 million euros to to improve the facilities, a new contract has been agreed to ensure capital returns.
