Valentino Rossi will start his home MotoGP race at Mugello from pole position after setting the pace in qualifying with a late run. In front of euphoric crowds, Rossi put in a 1m46.504 in Q2 to secure first place on the grid for Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix. The Yamaha rider beat Suzuki’s Maverick Vinales by just 0.094 seconds, with Ducati’s Andrea Iannone taking the final spot on the front row.
