Vinales targets Assen podium with new chassis
Maverick Vinales says he is aiming for a front row start and a place on the podium in Sunday’s Dutch TT after a positive practice day using the new Suzuki chassis. After a successful test day post-Barcelona, Vinales said he expected to use the Japanese manufacturer’s ‘evolution’ chassis for Assen, having deemed it “too risky” to use for the race in Spain. The Spaniard ended up fourth quickest in Friday practice, 0.301s slower than pacesetter Andrea Iannone, and reckons there is more to come from the new frame as the team hones its set-up. “The new chassis is working really well,” said Vinales. “I don’t think it was working 100 percent, but I feel good.
