I expected too much - Vinales
Despite equalling his best ever finish in the premier class, MotoGP newcomer Maverick Vinales admitted that he was left disappointed by his showing in the opening race of the season. The 21-year-old had shown impressive pace throughout pre-season testing and during the practice sessions in Qatar, leading him to confidently predict he would be in among the leaders come race day. As it turned out, Vinales managed a very respectable sixth, although he trailed winner Jorge Lorenzo by a full 15 seconds and was well off the podium pace - not exactly what he'd been hoping for.
