Rossi withdraws appeal over penalty decision
Former world champion Valentino Rossi withdrew his appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Thursday after an initial demand to have a three point penalty overturned following the Malaysian Grand Prix in October. The nine-time champion was given the punishment following an incident on the track when he collided with Spanish rider Marc Marquez who crashed out of the race after contact with the Italian in the October 25 race. Rossi had initially appealed to have the penalty reduced from three points to one which also forced him to start from the back of the grid in the season-ending race at the Valencia Grand Prix where Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo finished as world champion....
