Valentino Rossi admits Yamaha “can do better” after suffering a difficult 2017 MotoGP campaign in which he won just once and finished fifth in the standings. The nine-times world champion struggled to get to grips with the 2017 YZR-M1 from the very first test at the end of November 2016, and spent much of the year battling grip issues in hot and rain conditions. Rossi managed just one win, at Assen, and five other podium placements across the year. Missing a race due to a broken leg, Rossi's title tilt faded in the latter stages of the season.
