Maverick Vinales quickest from Andrea Iannone in Sachsenring MotoGP practice

Suzuki Ecstar rider Maverick Vinales topped the practice times for the German Grand Prix on Friday, putting in a 1:22.161, with just one rider, Andrea Iannone, able to get within half a second of the Spaniard. Ducati's Iannone ended up two-tenths off, with Marc Marquez third, more than six-tenths adrift for the Honda team. The session saw a slow start with little action until Yamaha Tech 3's Bradley Smith headed out, followed by Valentino Rossi five minutes later. That seemed to kick things off as the remainder of the field soon joined them.
