Andrea Dovizioso secures dominant Assen MotoGP pole in damp conditions

Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso will start the Dutch MotoGP race from the front after securing a dramatic pole position around the Assen TT track in damp conditions. The session began under damp conditions and although they began to dry come Q2, the majority of riders stuck with the full-wet tyres as patches of water were still visible in places. Dovizioso took a dominant pole, mastering the conditions to go more than seven-tenths quicker than Yamaha's Valentino Rossi. The Italian will start second alongside Pramac's Scott Redding, the Briton securing his first ever front-row start.
