Laverty to undergo surgery after Jerez test crash

Aspar Ducati rider Eugene Laverty will undergo surgery on Friday after breaking his left radius in a testing crash at Jerez. The 29-year-old Northern Irishman lost the front end of his Desmosedici GP14.2 machine suffered a high-speed crash at Turn 7, also suffering a dislocated shoulder and a blow to the head. He will now undergo surgery on his wrist at the Hospital Universitario Quirón Dexeus in Barcelona, with regular MotoGP surgeon Dr. Xavier Mir performing the operation. "It's a disappointing end to a good day of testing," said Laverty, who made his MotoGP debut this year with the Aspar team riding an Open class Honda.
