Jorge Martin claimed ninth place at the Aragon MotoGP even after suffering with his physical condition from mid-race onwards.

The Pramac rider made a decent start to the race and was comfortably inside the top six, a position he held during most of the practice sessions and qualifying.

However, the Spaniard’s struggles came later on in the race and was consequently overtaken by Brad Binder, fellow rookie Enea Bastianini and championship leader Fabio Quartararo.

Martin, who is still not completely 100% physically, lost out to the Frenchman by less than a tenth over the line, while holding off Takaaki Nakagami by a further two tenths.

Due to this and the pace shown earlier in the weekend, Martin’s ninth place result left him ‘happy’ with his overall performance, but not the actual position.

"Yeah, well good weekend for me. In general I felt super good on the bike and I was always top six, top five during practices," added Martin.

"But yeah, today in the race I was struggling a lot with the front grip and also my physical condition was not so good this weekend, I don’t know why. I was struggling with some muscles.

"When I was at half-race I was struggling a lot and I couldn’t put a really great pace.

"But anyway, I’m happy with the performance but not happy about the result, because I think we could make a little bit more. But, I’m a rookie and I need to improve and this is the way to do it."
