Francesco Bagnaia will be looking to build on an opening weekend that saw him claim a second career podium and first for the factory team.

Bagnaia also set a new lap record around the Losail International Circuit during qualifying, as he became the only rider to ever lap under the 1m 53s barrier. .

The Italian led more laps than anyone during the race, and it wasn’t until 7 laps remaining that Bagnaia lost the lead to eventual race winner Maverick Vinales.

The 2018 Moto2 champion cited a ‘wrong strategy’ of pushing too hard at the beginning which cost him the opportunity to keep pace with Vinales.

But looking ahead to the second race in Doha, Bagnaia is hoping to learn from the data in order to challenge for the win this time around.

"Last week, I went close to getting my first MotoGP win, but unfortunately, the strategy I adopted in the race turned out to be wrong," added Bagnaia.

"I pushed too hard at the start, and that prevented me from maintaining the same pace until the end.

"Still, I managed to get on the podium, and I'm pleased about that because it was a great way to start my new adventure with the Ducati Lenovo Team.

"This week I'll definitely aim for something more. The track conditions last Sunday were particular because of the wind and the sand on the track surface.

"Now, we'll analyse the data to be able to fight for the victory until the last lap of the Doha GP."
