Rossi insists Vinales qualifying tow not pre-planned
Valentino Rossi is adamant he was simply “lucky” to get a tow from Maverick Vinales during qualifying at Mugello, and that the two riders had not planned to run together. Rossi secured his second MotoGP pole in three races on his home turf on Saturday, setting his best lap while running in the wheeltracks of future Yamaha teammate Vinales at the end of Q2. It was a role reversal from the start of the session, when Vinales took advantage of a slipstream from Rossi.
