Marquez says top as Smith seals super second
Repsol Honda's Marc Marquez remained on top in FP2 as Bradley Smith slotted into a superb second place on the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 at the Sachsenring. Marquez, who headed Movistar Yamaha's Valentino Rossi by 0.3 seconds in FP1 using Bridgestone's asymmetric tyre, dipped into the 1m 21s for the first time on Friday early in the session, bumping team-mate Dani Pedrosa back to second. The Honda riders briefly exchanged places at the top with Yamaha duo Lorenzo and Rossi inside the top four after the opening 15 minutes, with Smith next on the satellite M1 ahead of Danilo Petrucci on the Pramac Ducati and Scott Redding (EG 0,0 Marc VDS Honda).
