Sachsenring MotoGP: Marquez beats Rossi in first practice

Marc Marquez beat MotoGP championship leader Valentino Rossi to the quickest time in opening practice for the German Grand Prix at Sachsenring. World champion Marquez topped the times with a lap of 1:21.766, outpacing his Yamaha rival by over three tenths of a second. Scott Redding was a surprising third quickest on the Marc VDS Honda, with Marquez's teammate Dani Pedrosa fourth ahead of Yonny Hernandez on the Pramac Ducati. Jorge Lorenzo finished down in seventh position on the second works Yamaha.
