Maverick Vinales dominates Thursday's pre-season test

Yamaha's Maverick Vinales dominated the second day of MotoGP pre-season testing in Malaysia, after a late effort put him 0.527 seconds clear of Suzuki's Alex Rins. It was Vinales' Yamaha team-mate Valentino Rossi who set the initial pace at the end of the first hour of running aboard his factory Yamaha with a 1:59.625s to go close to two tenths clear of the field at that stage.  While Yamaha has two variations of its new engine available at Sepang, Rossi has already settled on his preferred unit.  Andrea Dovizioso – who compared chassis on Thursday - would soon depose Rossi with a 1:56.562s, which would remain as the benchmark until the closing moments of...
