MotoGP Motegi: Rodrigo beats out McPhee for Japanese pole

Gabriel Rodrigo claimed his third career pole position as he beat out Scotsman John McPhee by just 0.075 seconds in Moto3 qualifying around the Twin Ring Motegi. The Argentine rider went top the top of the session with around twelve minute left on his KTM, taking the top spot off of Marco Bezzecchi who had led for the majorty of the session. Nobody could improve until the chequered flag came out. With the flag out, Bastianini took the pole spot from the RBA rider, but the Leopard man only held the top spot for a matter of seconds when World Championship leader and qualifying maestro Jorge Martin went fastest with a 1:57.118.
