Weather forces cancellation of MotoGP's Silverstone round

MotoGP has taken the decision to cancel the British Grand Prix at Silverstone due to poor weather and standing water on the track surface. Dorna took the decision to reschedule the race to 11:30 local time instead of 13:00 in the hope of missing the worst of the rain, but it became apparent that a morning downpour had made the conditions unsafe, something that was confirmed by riders during their sighting laps when the pitlane was initially opened at 11:10. The decision was taken to delay the race with hourly updates on the condition of the track.
