Jorge Martin showed just what he is made of after timing his pole position lap to perfection, denying his Gresini team-mate Fabio Di Giannantonio his maiden Moto3 pole position at Silverstone. The World Championship challenger still recovering from his broken wrist suffered in Brno appeared to be set to start from the middle of the second row when a rain shower drifted over the circuit half way through the session. Without hot temperatures the grid appeared to be decided in just 20 minutes, however, with the rain stopping almost instantly and a new surface at Silverstone, the track dried quickly and gave riders just one last chance to improve.
