Maverick Viñales led a Yamaha 1-2 in first practice for the British Grand Prix, pipping team-mate Valentino Rossi by almost two-tenths. The 2016 winner posted a best tome of 2:02.073 to top the timing screens, beating Rossi by 0.189s to give the Yamaha team a perfect start to the weekend. Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso just missed out on splitting the duo though as he finished just 0.001s adrift of his fellow Italian rival with a time of 2:02.263.
