The Movistar Factory Yamaha duo of Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales experienced contrasting fortunes with the Italian going fastest through MotoGP free practice, whilst team-mate Vinales could only managed eleventh place in Brno. Sitting in eleventh himself, Rossi left it until the final seconds when following the factory duo of Dani Pedrosa (sixth) and Andrea Dovizioso (tenth) helped tow him up into the top ten and all the way to the top of the timing sheets. Just before Rossi stormed to first, Danilo Petrucci had taken the top spot off Jorge Lorenzo with the Ducati duo looking strong in second and third position, with the Spaniard just a tenth and a half off of his firmer team-mates...
