MotoGP Mugello: Iannone stays fastest as Pirro suffers huge crash
Ecstar Suzuki's Amdrea Iannone has finished the opening day of MotoGP practice at the top of the timesheets, using the soft Michlein rear tyre to set a 1'46.735 in a session that was red-flagged twice. The first stoppage came when Ducati test rider Michele Pirro suffered an enormous crash at the end of the start/finish straight. The Italian flew 15 feet in the air at 300km/h and was knocked unconscious but team principal Paolo Ciabatti confirmed his injuries are not serious and he has been take to Florence Hospital.
