Smith will need further surgery on leg injury

Bradley Smith says the knee injury that has ruled him out of this weekend's MotoGP race at Silverstone will require further surgery before he can return to racing. The Tech 3 Yamaha rider sustained ligament damage to his right knee in a crash during practice for last weekend's 8 Hours of Oschersleben race, the final round of the FIM Endurance series, racing for the YART team. Smith was subsequently taken by helicopter to hospital to have an open wound - caused by his leg being run over by another rider - stitched up, although he was initially feared to have broken his femur. The injury will require further surgery before the Briton can race again, with the exact timeframe for a return still...
