Lorenzo nearly quit Assen race

Movistar Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo said he nearly retired from Sunday's MotoGP race at Assen due to the dangerous wet conditions. Lorenzo finished the Dutch GP in tenth place, fighting back from 19th position after the race was stopped after 12 laps due to the dangerous rainy conditions. The Spaniard got more grip from the new softer fitted rear tyre after the restart in dryer conditions, to make inroads and earn six championship points for his trouble. Jack Miller claimed his first MotoGP victory in the rain-shortened Dutch TT, beating championship leader Marc Marquez.
