Malaysian MotoGP: Marquez leads opening Sepang practice

Marc Marquez topped the opening MotoGP practice session of the weekend in Sepang, leading Maverick Vinales by more than two-tenths. Overnight rain meant track conditions continued to improve throughout the session, making for a somewhat frantic finish as a lot of the field made improvements in the closing minutes. But nobody could get near World Champion Marquez. The Repsol Honda rider first popped up on top 17 minutes in, dropping under 2m02s before anyone else with a 2m01.923s, before quickly wiping another 0.023s off that benchmark time.
